Features:
- Steambent apron
- Decorative veneered starburst top
- Hand-carved heraldric lion crest
When the school was gifted with a lion bronze from a generous benefactor. they sought out a suitable pedestal for its display. During the preliminary discussions regarding the design, it was decided to put the school crest on the pedestal but not in color. No sense in overpowering the sculpture with bright colors on the furniture!
The result was a simple, but carefully detailed pedestal. The apron is steam-bent to minimize seams and end grain. The plain doric columns reflect the surrounding architectural details of the library. Decorative veneer work on the top keeps the piece balanced by avoiding straight grain lines across the top.
